Israel attacks Lebanon killing two people, harming one

(MENAFN) On Saturday evening, an Israeli drone attack on the southern Lebanese town of Mahrouna resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left one other person wounded, according to reports from local authorities and media outlets.

The assault reportedly focused on a man riding a motorcycle, who died immediately at the scene. A woman traveling nearby in a vehicle was also killed, while her husband, who was with her in the car, sustained injuries.

Reports indicate the motorcycle rider was identified as Abbas Wahbi, a member of Hezbollah from Mahrouna. The woman who lost her life was said to be from the nearby village of Jwaya.

Confirmation of the drone strike and its resulting casualties was provided by official sources.

This deadly incident occurred despite a ceasefire arrangement between Hezbollah and Israel that has been in effect since November 27, 2024. Mediated by both the United States and France, the agreement aimed to bring an end to ongoing border violence that had escalated following the conflict in Gaza.

Nevertheless, the Israeli military continues to launch sporadic operations inside Lebanon, claiming they are necessary to counter perceived threats from Hezbollah.
